  • JUST A LITTLE UPDATE ON THE CHURCH YEAR.  We will move to the first Sunday in Lent, March 9th. There are two gatherings before March 9th to mark the beginning of these forty days. The first is Shrove Tuesday, and the second Ash Wednesday. Shrove Tuesday became the day of using up the last of the flour and sugar and “treats” in order to move to Ash Wednesday, the day marking the start of Lent as time of reflection and sacrifice. Here we recognize our mortality, here we choose to live fully. For the past few years we have brought the Tuesday and Wednesday together.  So you are invited to join us on Wednesday, March 5th, at 5:30 pm for the celebration of pancakes and sausage and then if you wish, continue our time together with  a short Ash Wednesday Service. Life is sweet (pancakes and syrup) life can be bitter and hard (the ashes of Ash Wednesday). We do taste both of them. So bringing this time together does make spiritual sense.  Guests are welcome. Hope to see you March 5th.  With vision and faith, Karen E. Toole, Clergy
